Brian Govender

Brian started his career studying electronic engineering at Cato Manor Technical College in Natal and after graduating in 1999, obtained a further qualification as a sleep technician at the Natal Sleep Laboratory.

He worked in Durban as a sleep technician and subsequently, in Johannesburg, at the Milpark Sleep Laboratory as a senior technician. In 2003 he was appointed as a research technician to the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Minnesota, USA where he worked under the supervision of Professor Virend K Somers, a world authority on sleep disorders and cardiac sleep medicine.

Brian returned to South Africa in 2005 where he set up The Pretoria Sleep Centre.
